What We Do

Persistent builds Africa’s climate ventures through investment and Persistent’s unique customized Venture Building. Our work has supported climate entrepreneurs across the continent and strengthened the ecosystem that enables them to grow since 2012.

Many early-stage climate businesses struggle, not because their solutions lack potential or their entrepreneurs are not talented, but because they lack the technical, operational, and strategic support needed to grow. Persistent saw this gap more than a decade ago and created its unique customized Venture Building model, designed for Persistent team members to work alongside entrepreneurs from their business’ earliest stages.

Our Venture Building combines financial expertise, operational support, and deep sector knowledge to support entrepreneurs as they build and grow their businesses. It is the core of what we do and a model that has helped scale climate ventures across Africa’s Energy Transition.

Venture Building remains central to our management of the Persistent ACV Fund. Through the Persistent ACV Fund’s Venture Building Facility, portfolio companies can qualify for grant-funded Venture Building.

Persistent is committed to building climate ventures that deliver measurable and lasting impact. To demonstrate this, we track progress across key indicators, including emissions reduction, clean energy access, job creation, gender inclusion, and economic development. Our approach combines consistent, pragmatic measurement with alignment to global standards and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
